“Visualization and belief in a pattern of reality activate the creative power of realization”. — A. L. Linall, Jr.

Before joining Amal Academy, my life was boring, less professional, depressed, less career-oriented and there were no defined goals.

Also, during the COVID-19, my experience of online classes was not good. As I got to know about the fellowship program, I realized the need for it and got enrolled in this program. Clearing all the stages of the selection process and reaching the first online session, I finally started the journey with people from diverse cultures, diverse domains, but all with immense positive energy.

I remember, in the starting two weeks, we had fun activities related to self-discovery, identifying our abilities, strengths, and goals. The ‘Knowing yourself’ was a very important part of this Amal fellowship. It helped in analyzing myself and identifying the destinations. I never thought before about my accomplishments, the praise and appreciation from my teachers, my mates, and most importantly my areas of improvement. These activities helped me think about the criticism or the bad feedback I ever received, so as to overcome the weakness, improve myself and build up a better personality.

The ‘Fixing the stuff around yourself’ activity in the project work was fun. It gave me a feeling of satisfaction for taking responsibility for our surroundings to keep clean and tidy. It taught me to take ownership of my work and be responsible enough to take an initiative towards betterment. This task I performed reflected as an act of true everyday leadership without authority.

I learned about Amal’s Values and Principles. To never lose humility, be a human at first and a successful person afterward. Also, to be an effective listener in addition to an effective speaker. I have tried my best to adopt them in my everyday life too. I also learned to radiate positive energy in my daily life and having a growth mindset.

Along with these, the concept of Steeve jobs about ‘connecting the dots’ and the ‘Life Map’ helped me to reflect on my past. The Ted Talk by Simon Sinek about the importance of starting with ‘WHY’ helped in analyzing the personnel and professional goals.

Before enrolling here, I had never made a video of myself, speaking about a topic. In this program, I got a chance to overcome shyness and improve my confidence to speak in front of a camera as well as the audience.

Moreover, I really want to mention the appreciation even on the smaller achievements from fellows and our mentors Sir Anis and Ma’am Aalia was something to be considered as the most important lesson of my life. At times, when I was at the lower point of energy they all together motivated and boosted me to the fullest level of my energy.

In a nutshell, I call it the best experience of my life as it taught me to be a lifelong learner, and to believe in myself, and therefore transforming me into a super confident girl.

Most importantly the lesson I have learned from Amal Fellowship is that “There is no right and the wrong answer” don’t hesitate in sharing your point of view. “Just Speak”. To spread positivity, be respectful and humble.
